2010 Yamaha YZ250F First Ride

uh, guys? yamaha? not a great bike? they're winning every motorcycle competition this year.. mx1, mx2, sx, motogp, wsb, wss, 600cc, atv? where's honda, kawi, ktm and suzook? ugly? your just jealous cause your ore sophiscated bikes aren't working...hahahaha..... cry babies!!! I agree that the fender is disgusting. Why is it that Yamaha can't design a nice looking fender these days? They all look like beaks! An when has Yamaha ever been better than Honda just because of the name? Come on...let's get real! Most notable is the new bi-lateral aluminum chassis. This twin-spar design is much like the rest of the Japanese bikes, but the frame spars are very small. Yamaha claims that the vertical rigidity is similar to the ’09, but twisting and horizontal rigidity are much increased. With morning and noon track prep, we never saw any bumps on the Washougal track, which made for a difficult time feeling out the chassis and suspension. However, we were able tell that the 27.5 degrees of rake and extra 3mm of trail combine with a relocated steering head pipe to make a better-handling machine. The steering head is 12mm lower and 7mm rearward compared to ’09. This brings more weight to the front end and the 250F provides more feedback to the rider and better bite – both of which were appreciated on Washougal’s notoriously deceiving dirt. Since the chassis is more cramped, the radiators were forced back towards the rider as well. To keep the midsection from bulging, the radiators were made thinner from side to side, but fatter front to back to keep the same capacity. An additional mounting point was added as well. With the bi-lateral beam design, engineers no longer have to wrap the fuel tank around a backbone. The 1.7-gallon tank is now down inside the spars which helps lower the center of gravity and adds to the Yamaha’s nimble attitude. This bike definitely likes to turn sharply, and, taking into consideration the smooth track conditions, it still feels very stable. There was one square hole on the track and it was in a sweeping right-hander that led up the hill in a to a fourth-gear step-up. We hit that thing lap after lap and the bike never got out of control, but we’ll be looking for nastier conditions in future testing. Light handling takes less effort, and that’s what Yamaha engineers wanted to provide each and every YZ-F owner. “We tried to focus on making this bike the fastest for an entire race,” emphasizes Product Planning Manager, Derek Brooks.

2010 Yamaha YZ250F First Ride

Riding the 2010 Yamaha YZ250F at Washougal MX Park proved to be a terrific match. The updated YZ-F is a very good machine - without succumbing to the fuel-injection craze.

Zaca Station MX Park looks quite desolate from Google's Earth satellite photos (Digital Globe). With the basic Google Earth service, I can see three tracks - the large one, a shorter one southwest and a small mini-bike track, less than twenty vehicles and Todd Sciacqua going so fast, it's just a long blur. I've been told that the CIA's satellite shows Todd with an ear-to-ear smile riding this bike!Honda produces perhaps the best 250cc 4-stroke motocross bike on the planet. The CRF250R has been dominating the annual MotoUSA 250F Motocross Shootouts since 2006 with another victory this year completing the three-peat. Finding chinks in the CRF’s red-plated armor is a chore, so we worked with one of the top builders in the industry to find them for us. Our test bike was set up by Jay Clark Enterprises built by the man himself, Jay Clark. The other was a stock CRF250R which allowed for a solid comparison.
The motor ran absolutely perfect and was a highlight for our testers, as was the MB1 suspension which surprised us with its versatility. The only consistent flaws we’ve found in the rock-solid CRF are minor issues with the carburetion and suspension, and these were two of the primary targets for respected bike builder, Clark, but he didn’t stop there. He’s a totally stand-up guy, but with his particular industry ties there’s plenty of influence for extra motor displacement, so he built us a cheater bike. By the time he finished with our little Honda, the cylinder was overbored 1mm and re-plated to 79mm by Millennium Tech, Parapros Racing custom ported the head, CP Pistons threw in a high-compression 14:1 piston and Hot Cams slipped in their performance camshaft. The extra size bumps the mill to 256cc, and feeding the entire thing is a full-modified race carb from Tokyo Mods while an FMF MegaBomb and Factory 4.1 single muffler handle exhaust on the opposite end.

The biggest improvements are from the carb. That motor runs absolutely perfect. There’s no hesitation anywhere through the powerband and it reacts instantly when you twist the throttle

The motor ran absolutely perfect and was a highlight for our testers, as was the MB1 suspension which surprised us with its versatility.

Pleasing design, good long legged cruiser, averaging 23 mpg.Don't like the premium fuel requirement. If Lincoln can get their V6's on 87 octane, so can MBenz! Great for loading the dogs in the back the wide, low and flat platform is ideal for long awkward loadsLove the automatic's "paddle" gear change, a pleasant surprise. leased it in August, got a pretty good deal (probably even better now!). Was expecting a clunker but it actually drove fast (over 260hp V6), handles better than expected, corners well, great interior with very comfortable seats. Wife and I are used to performance, I have an SL and she has an E550. This is for the trips with newborn baby. the auto lift gate and low stance are great, very ample cargo space without the 3rd row seats. 3rd row seats are the most comfortable of any SUV/Crossovers. Even more comfortable than vans but are not as easy to get into as vans. Can fit 6footers comfortablely in all three rows at once. Only gripe is the crummy mileage. Averaged 20mpg on drive to Vegas from LA. normal driving yields only 14-17mpg. 2010 Mercedes-Benz R-Class : Reviews and Specification Back up camera in the 09's are great and the built in bluetooth is great add on's for the new model. Pano roof is beautiful, baby loves to see up into the sky. Keyless go is very important if you have babies, mine didn't come with one because they didn't have any available at the time. If you can order it, get it. All in all, great family crossover/SUV, great for those of us not wanting to be caught dead in a Sienna or Odysse, and great for those who like to drive. The 2009 R-Class is a 4-door, up to 7-passenger luxury sport-utility, available in two trims, the R350 4MATIC and the R320 BlueTEC. Upon introduction, the R350 4MATIC is equipped with a standard 3.5-liter, V6, 268-horsepower engine that achieves 15-mpg in the city and 19-mpg on the highway. The R320 BlueTEC is equipped with a standard 3.0-liter, V6, 210-horsepower, turbo, diesel engine that achieves 18-mpg in the city and 24-mpg on the highway. A 7-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard on both trims.

European manufactured Honda Civic Type R 2010 to be sold in Japan The car is powered by a 2.0-liter DOHC i-VTEC engine that produces 201PS at 8,000rpm. This enables the hot hatch to run from 0-62 mph in 6.6 seconds before hitting a top speed of 146 mph.
Compared to a standard Civic, the Type R features aggressive styling, a 20mm wider rear track, sportier damper and spring characteristics, a 15mm reduction in ride height, and an improved steering setup. Apart from the styling(or "Euro R" badge), this FN2 Type-R(cheap torsion beam rear suspension) is worse than Japan built FD2 Type-R(expensive Multi-link rear suspension). Too much unused production capacity in Swindon Factory? It sounds about as ironic as Ford importing the Fiesta in the US, or BMW the X5 in Germany, or VW the Fox from Brazil... and there are plenty more models that were originally meant for the market where they were produced. Typical Honda, not bad but if they really want to take market share away from the Subaru WRXs, Evos and like they need it to be RWD or All wheel drive. Power is nothing if you cannot put it to the ground. A great example of this is the FWD Dodge SRT4, wheel spin all the way through 2nd.
But, it will be a great car for people who like the RICE look. Personally, I will stick with my All Wheel Drive WRX pushing 320whp. Boost and all wheel drive is where it is at.
