The all-new Focus represents the first fruits of the automaker's "One Ford" strategy of building vehicles that can be shared around the world. That's not how things worked previously at Ford, as evidenced by the three unique versions of the Focus before this model sold in different parts of the world. The strategy seems to be paying off, as the new Focus sedan and hatchback offer a level of style and substance that should appeal to small-car buyers the world over.Nice...but is Ford planning...or has already decided to...move the Focus upscale (like how Nissan moved the Sentra, Honda moved the Civic and Toyota moved the Corolla, with Versa, Fit and Yaris, respectively)?

This CAN'T be a sub $18K vehicle with what's in there. I think that it's even be more costly then the Civic/Corolla ones on what's being given in the Focus (Civic and Corolla don't have those technologies/features. If Ford's selling it at, say, $22K or so, then I would predict a sales failure because it's going to go into the Camry/Accord/Altima territories (which starts around $20K, so the mentality is that, if I pay $2000 - that's before any "rebate," I'll move "up" again). If it's going to sell at the current Focus price, then it WILL sell, but Ford's going to lose a lot of money on this (with its Union contracts).

For those of u who think that this will be a good Mazda3 competitor...then this vehicle will surely be doomed :( How many Mazda3 has Mazda sold per year?


After seeing the new Focus at an event before the Detroit auto show, I would say it has a much more premium appearance than its predecessor, and it's one that should resonate with small-car shoppers. Both the sedan and hatchback have a nice stance, and the car has lots of interesting body-panel creases. A trio of large front vents and a raked windshield give the Focus a sporty look.

The Focus is powered by a new 155-horsepower, 2.0-liter four-cylinder that features variable valve timing and direct injection. The engine teams with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Although gas mileage figures haven't been released, Ford says the Focus will offer unsurpassed fuel economy in its class. Whether it's this engine or another one — a turbocharged four-cylinder EcoBoost engine will be offered later in the Focus — the car will need to get around 40 mpg on the highway to live up to that claim.

Mercedes today released the official photos of the new S 63 AMG in its final shape. The house had advanced model with a gallery on the copy "rigged" as the famous Rote Sau, the 300 SEL 6.8 AMG finished second in its race debut at the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps in 1971.

The big news of the S 63 AMG is hidden in the bonnet of course: the new 5.5 twin-turbo V8 has replaced the previous 6.2 naturally aspirated V8 525 hp and 630 Nm, dramatically improving its values both in terms of performance than on consumption and emissions .

"The Traverse is an excellent vehicle. Roomy, good milage and a comfortable ride make this a winner. We purchased a 2010 with leather and a Silverado at the same time. Both vehicles ride smooth and have good acceleration."
For 2009, Chevrolet got its own version of GM's popular three-row crossover. It's called the Traverse, and it offers distinctive styling and a purportedly sportier driving experience than its GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave siblings. Competitors include the Toyota Highlander, Mazda CX-9 and Hyundai Veracruz.
Under the Traverse's hood is a 3.6-liter V-6 with direct fuel injection to achieve slightly better power and gas mileage than the engines in the Acadia and Enclave. Three-row curtain airbags and an electronic stability system are standard, and all-wheel drive is optional.
The Traverse comes in LS, LT and LTZ trim levels.

Exterior
The Traverse sports the same stacked grille as the redesigned Chevy Malibu. The high beltline and tall roof are typical of most large crossovers, while the taillights recall Chevy's Camaro.

Great interior and styling. Does what I bought it for, hauling people and cargo. It has a very good power and the handling is great. Parking is much easier than I expected. The proximity warning system is a great help when backing up.FYI I have had no problems merging into traffic on busy interstates and highwaysLike its siblings, the Traverse's interior has bright gauges and plenty of beveled plastics. The door handles reside on their own raised cutouts, and the dashboard stacks contrasting materials atop one another. Parking assistance comes in the form of rear proximity sensors or a rearview backup camera.

  • A car designed with all the best of intentions, but falling short where ever it counts. The front of the car is designed so that you are unable to judge it's dimensions. In the rear they have pulled up the windows to ensure that the area that can not be judged as well and produce a maximum dead angle. The engine is fine unless you want to do a kick down on a free way entry than it will hesitate for multiple seconds about what your intentions are and the vehicle will slow down before it speeds up as you would expect. This provides for exiting times especially if you drive in places where you need to get on and off freeways a lot, like teh New York, New Jersey area

The Cadillac Escalade ESV's 6.2-liter V-8 now features cylinder deactivation, a technology designed to save gas by automatically shutting off four cylinders when driving conditions allow. Great performance and drive...Fifth gear to sixth can wander a bit due to being to light on the pedal. Love the pick up and sheer performance for a truck that size... Little disappointed with electrical issues in the first 5000 kms like side windows etc... Tire pressure gauge doesn't work and hard to fix... Best truck I've owned and gives a luxury sedan a run for its money...
Henry"The clock from prior Platinum trims is now standard across the lineup, and there are new side-impact airbags for the front seats. There's a USB port for connecting a portable music player to the audio system.

Exterior
Built on the same platform as the Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon XL, the Escalade ESV stretches 20.4 inches longer than the regular Escalade. Fourteen of those inches go to extending the wheelbase, which allows for larger rear doors unconstrained by wheel wells. Height increases by 1.2 inches, and width remains about the same. Despite the bigger dimensions, curb weight increases by just 217 pounds for rear-wheel-drive models.

The 2010 Toyota Matrix is a compact crossover vehicle that can carry up to five people and plenty of cargo. The Matrix comes in a base version as well as S and sporty XRS trim levels. The Matrix competes with the Kia Spectra5, Mazda3 and related Pontiac Vibe. Features & Pricing
Excluding the destination charge, the Matrix starts at $16,190, roughly the same as the outgoing model equipped with similar features. Major standard features include A/C, a basic CD stereo with an auxiliary audio jack and power mirrors. Power windows and locks with remote entry run $990. For $18,260, the Matrix S includes those features along with the 2.4-liter engine, a rear wiper and more. All-wheel drive adds $2,140, but it also includes an automatic transmission, which costs $1,190 otherwise.

The Matrix XRS starts at $20,660 and comes with 18-inch rims, a sport-tuned suspension and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls. Many of those features are optional on lesser trims. How it Looks
Toyota didn't reinvent the wheel with this version; the new face looks like a logical progression from the old model. The lights appear lower and leaner, and the bumper's chunky flanks seem on the verge of swallowing what lies between. The aggressiveness fits on this car, and it bears some resemblance to Toyota's forthcoming Venza crossover.

Overall length has increased by less than an inch, and ride height is about half an inch lower. Sadly, the liftgate no longer incorporates the previous model's glass hatch.

Sixteen-inch steel wheels with plastic covers come on the base model and Matrix S. For its price, the S really ought to have alloy rims, but they're optional. The XRS has standard 18-inch alloys.

Rumor: 2012 Porsche Cayman Clubsport headed for LA Auto Show

According to Porsche enthusiast site Planet-9.com, a hardcore version of the Cayman, dubbed CS or Clubsport, will be shown at this year's Los Angeles Auto Show in December. This isn't the first time we've heard rumblings of a lighter, more powerful Cayman, but now that Porsche has successfully launched the Boxster Spyder, it's only fitting that the same sort of package be offered on its harder-core hardtop sister.

Expect the Clubsport to produce around 333 horsepower from its 3.4-liter flat-six, an increase of 13 hp over the Cayman S. From there, lightweight 19-inch wheels will be standard, as will fabric door pulls, aluminum body components and a slightly revised front fascia that we've seen on the Boxster Spyder. Obviously, the real goal with a Clubsport model is lightness, and Planet-9 reports that the CS should be about 162 to 184 pounds lighter than the stock Cayman S.

If the LA Auto Show reveal stands true, the Cayman CS should be hitting the road sometime in 2011 as a 2012 model, priced from around $66,300. Fingers crossed, everyone.

Maserati Quattroporte gets served up Novitec Style.

Anytime German auto tuner Novitec gets its hands on an exotic car you know that good things will happen. They’ve done multiple Ferrari’s, Audi’s, Porsche’s and BMW’s along with just about every other high-end manufacturer out there, and with this they’ve managed to build a reputation as one of the best exotic car tuning companies in the business. It now seems Novitec has gotten the bug to play with Maserati’s as it has just released a complete package for the Quattroporte S and Sport GTS.

By supercharging the engine from the Maserati GTS Novitec has managed to increase power from a base of 440 hp to a whopping 600 hp. This means 0-60 times of just 4.5 seconds and a top speed of around 195 mph. Also keep in mind that this is still a big 4 passenger grand touring car. For $36,000 you get one supercharger, water-cooled inter-coolers, reinforced V-ribbed belts, fuel injectors and everything else you’ll need to make your once fast Maserati a whole hell of a lot faster.
