BMW's 3 Series Reviews and Specification

BMW's 3 Series Reviews and Specification
BMW's 3 Series cars are among the sportiest in their class, and also the most laden with leading-edge technology, which presents advantages and disadvantages. The 3 Series sedan and wagon are the most practical. The coupe is the sportiest, and the convertible, the most hedonistic. All remain class benchmarks for overall performance.Retail prices rise quickly and substantially from the bottom of the 3 Series line, and we'd guess that most buyers will find the least expensive models as useful and enjoyable as the most expensive

Model LineupEvery car in BMW's 3 Series is a fine performer and a technological tour de force.Driving has never been much better, or at least not with seating for four or five, decent mileage and a high level of comfort. The 3 Series offers rear-wheel drive and manual transmissions in a class increasingly filled with front-wheel drive and automatics.Nearly equal front/rear weight distribution leaves the driver in full command of where the car goes when, with a nicely tuned stability control system to keep watch should a driver venture beyond his or her capabilities. The 3 Series suspension layout is borrowed from the larger 5 Series sedan, with double-joint aluminum control arms in front and a five-link fully independent system in the rear. This is trick stuff, but it's nothing compared to the electronics that manage everything. If something is amiss, BMW's Dynamic Stability Control system senses that a particular wheel is losing traction, then applies the brake at that wheel or reduces engine power in an effort to keep the car going in the intended direction. On 3 Series models with Active Steering, the DSC can also help drive the car by making fairly significant steering corrections without driver input, or even driver awareness. For many drivers in limited circumstances, this automatic steering adjustment could prove valuable, but the Active Steering has annoying drawbacks. It seems to be working all the time, as if it's hoping to guess what a driver wants and deliver it almost before the driver asks. The steering wheel can move ever so slightly in the driver's hands, without regard to any driver input. We found this unsettling at high speed on arrow-straight interstates, and on twisty, two-lane back roads. What's best about this twin-turbocharged version of the straight six is its linear quality, or the steady supply of acceleration-producing torque at any speed.So-called turbo lag, or a slowed response to the gas pedal as the turbos start spinning, is almost nonexistent. There's more torque down low than ever, but the turbo engine pulls like a sprinter all the way to its 6800-rpm redline and never misses a step.It also sounds great from inside the car, with an emphasis on clean mechanical noise from the engine bay rather than the tone of the muffler. We prefer the manual transmission, even though it isn't perfect, mostly because it allows the driver to more thoroughly exploit the goodness in the 3 Series engines.Clutch-pedal effort makes taking off easy, without having to think about it, and the gear ratios are perfectly spaced for either the base or turbocharged engine

New Envoy GMC 2009 Review

The 2009 Envoy GMC is a 4-door, 5-passenger sport-utility, available in 6 trims, ranging from the SLE-2 2WD to the Denali 4WD. This was a great vehicle for our needs. The additonal bucks for the SLT was well worth the bells and whisles.Heated seats were a must for my wife with cronic back pain. This was equipped with a 373 rear for the towing capability. I only used this one time in four years for towing and sacraficed a couple mpg for the entire time...not worth the money for the lower rear ratio for me. I have just purchased a 2009 Denali and find the mpg to be better even with the V-8 but with a higher rear ratio. The new vehicle has independent for wheel air suspension and feels quite a bit more substantial to drive...quite like the feel of a larger Tahoe or Silverado pick-up both of which I have had and still do driveUpon introduction, the SLE-2 2WD is equipped with a standard 4.2-liter, I6, 285-horsepower engine that achieves 14-mpg in the city and 20-mpg on the highway. The Denali 4WD is equipped with a standard 5.3-liter, V8, 300-horsepower engine that achieves 14-mpg in the city and 20-mpg on the highway. A 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard on both trims

The 2009 Aspen is a 4-door, up to 8-passenger sport-utility, available in two trims, the Limited 4X2 and the Limited 4X4. Upon introduction, the Limited 4X2 is equipped with a standard 4.7-liter, V8, 303-horsepower engine that achieves 14-mpg in the city and 19-mpg on the highway. The Limited 4X4 is equipped with a standard 4.7-liter, V8, 303-horsepower engine that achieves 13-mpg in the city and 18-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard on both trims.Excellent vehicle! Compared Tahoe and Expedition as well. Can't beat the Aspen for the money. I love the way it rides. Got the J package and all the goodies on it in black. Looks really sharp with the 20" chrome wheels. NAV works while moving unlike Lexus. Touch screen unlike Mercedes. Back seat TV is great for kids and the rear console option with heated seats is great! The head phones aren't thrown around the car. Great time to make a deal! Dealerships will really deal these bigger SUVs right now right now with the economy and crossovers taking the market over. Came down a couple more thousand $ even after all discounts/rebates applied. This SUV is environment friendly with the flexfuel system, can carry plenty, and rides great. I mean, take a good look at all the chrome features. Its a v-8 and rides great I love my aspen!!!Chrysler Aspen 2009 2010 Reviews and Specification

The 2009 Acadia is a 4-door, up to 8-passenger sport-utility, available in 6 trims, ranging from the SLE-1Former import only buyer. Picked Acadia over Acura/Honda/Toyota due to easy 3rd row access and size. Interior plastics (dash & door panels) not up to scratch compared with competitors, but fit and build quality very good. Top marks for comfort, ride, power and looks, but can be thirsty around town and was quite expensive. Chose SLT2 with 19" wheels, running boards, flaps and roof bars....heated & cooled seats, double sun roof, Nav & DVD bringing total to just under $50k. Overall very impressed and happy with my purchase . FWD to the SLT-2 AWD. This SUV/X-over is the way to go when transporting ~5 adults and luggage under 500 miles. This vehicle is agile on both city streets, as well as long stretches of highway.
There's plenty of head and legroom for all but the tallest NBA stars. The interior and options have been well thought out.
I think the GM offerings yield a much better value than the imports ... GM has a winner with this "next-gen" SUV
Upon introduction, the SLE-1 FWD is equipped with a standard 3.6-liter, V6, 288-horsepower engine that achieves 17-mpg in the city and 24-mpg on the highway. 2009 Honda CRF150R Review

2009 Honda CRF150R Review
MSRP $4,299
The CRF150R may be Honda's smallest MX machine, but it has everything it needs to be a big winner. It starts with a Unicam engine and an adjustable Showa suspension, and throw in a Pro-Link rear suspension just like the big boys. It's big on the features you expect from.In all honesty, the Honda CRF150R is a pretty radical little machine, and we doubt that the lack of buzz has anything to do with the bike itself. A number of external factors-such as the slackening economy and a recent lack of manufacturer interest in the amateur racing scene-may be the prime reason this bike is largely being ignored. Or perhaps the pre-CRF150R hype was so great, the normal amount of attention the little Honda receives now seems insignificant in comparison. Whatever the case, this bike remains a sweet, solid piece of equipment that any youth racer would give his Tater Tots to own.

2009 HondaCRF230L Review and Specs

On the trail, the CRF230L is fully capable of throwing this 200-pound rider around the desert with a smile-inducing thump. Sporting a mild grunt in the exhaust note and suspended enough to fly high without bottoming out the ride, the overall package is a hit. Its dual-cradle frame and chassis dimensions offer a flickable ride without sacrificing the whole bike to the wind gods when they come knocking on the trail. The MX style seat is perfect for the changing conditions of trail as well as the street, and handlebar height gives plenty of room for stand-up riding for this 34-inch inseam rider.
At speed in the sand, or pushing over an indicated 70 mph on the street, the Trail Wings keep their shape and purpose without needing to "air down" for the trail. Over hill and dale, attacking the undulating desert whoops is a breeze as the 230L has enough torque to pick up the front end. When a stray abandoned automobile halts the going, the two-pot wave rotor brakes make quick work of stopping before you become road kill to the deceased auto carcass.
With an MSRP of $4499, the 2008 CRF230L is plenty of bike for the motorcycling first-timer who needs a do-it-all-er, or even for the dusty, trail-whipped two-wheel vet who's looking for a versatile second bike with that traditional Honda reliabilit

2009 Kawasaki KLX250SF Review

For the most part, the new SF model is a city-slickened and supermoto-styled KLX250S with the same four-stroke liquid-cooled 249cc DOHC four-valve Single. On the Area P dyno, the SF was able to crank out 2.5 horsepower more, up to 20.5 ponies at 8,800 rpm - possibly due to a better transmission of power from the street tires than the S’s knobbies. Torque is up marginally to 13.7 ft-lbs at 7,400 rpm. The SF model employs a taller 39-tooth rear sprocket and street rubber to deliver more confident higher-speed street riding. Redlining at 10,500 rpm with a sweet spot between the 7,000 to 9,000 rpm rev range, the SF sure is a screamer

The 2009 Kawasaki KLX250SF lands in the middle of the road with a MSRP of just $5,299. That’s $400 more than the S-model, but there’s more than just price tucked into this lightweight machine. If you’re looking for a supermoto-styled standard as your next commuter mount, the KLX250SF has the creature comforts any new rider will appreciate, like rubber footpegs, uniquely shaped mirrors, a robust digital dashboard with two tripmeters and sweeping tachometer, onboard toolkit and helmet lock as seen on the KLX-S model. All this, plus a lower saddle and center of gravity for enhanced straight-line performance and on-road handling.
Feather-light steering and exemplary fuel economy also tread’s lightly on your wallet with an advertised 70-mpg. Our initial testing showed just 45 mpg, but we barely let the little piston dip below the horsepower peak of 8,500 rpm (an indicated 80 mph) with a 200 lb rider aboard. With the SF’s 2.0-gallon tank, expect fuel stops to arrive not much further than 100 miles.

2010 Triumph Thunderbird Specs

2010 Triumph Thunderbird Specs, Great bike. Congratulations Triumph! - I will certainly check one out as soon as they hit the showroomfloor. I like cruisers, and I know it's difficult to get round the obvious Harley, but I don't want myself buying into those hugely overpriced dated shakers... At least here's an alternative that also has style and individuality. Better perfomance, less vibration, good handling... Black one please, with the headlight body work and stroker kit, thx! :) Go triumph
I love the look of the engine (and can live with the radiator - just - knowing the power and efficiency advantages of water cooling). However, the rest of the bike is just too HD. Triumph should have referred to their own history and made a more English looking cruiser - not radically different - but with correctly placed instruments and ditch the HD back end. As to the HD references - not a fan here, ridden them a LOT and no, you don't have to tell me, I DO get it and because of that I would never own one even if they were 1/2 price.Hopefully this is the beginning of the end of the horrible v-twin. An engine that puts out no hp, takes up too much space, overweight, and is ridiculously outdated. A solid left hand punch at hd.

The real test of the Thunderbird will be on the sales floor, where its attractive $12,499 base MSRP compares well with the H-D Dyna line and has the potential to make the British firm some serious dollars. True, some, strike that, most of the H-D market is sewed up for life – with riders having inflexibly strong opinions about where their motorcycles are made, or at least the nationality of the brand... Yet, even cutting into a small portion of H-D Big Twin sales would be a remarkable coup.

2009 Mazda Tribute Hybrid Reviews and Photo

2009 Mazda Tribute Hybrid , I've only had it 3 months and so far there's been no major problems.I love the fact that when you're sitting in traffic or at a red light that seems to last forever you're not wasting gas or pumping out pollutants. The stereo has an aux input, something I find essential for mp3 player and dvd audio. The display that tells you things like average mpg and miles left till empty is cool. The average mpg so far is only up to 27.8 which is less than I expected but that could be because someone in the family has a lead foot...honey! One of the things I'd change about it are an extra row of seats would be nice, at the moment you have to pay an another $10k for a Highlander to get that. The other thing is the styling, it's very brick-like, I prefer the sleeker looks of the crossovers, although you do sacrifice some space for that.It would be better for the gas mileage if the a/c would run on battery power alone when stationary. The brake release is set too low down, the designer must have had ape like arms.Incidentally, Mazda need to market it better, I found plenty of these available locally despite the very limited release and high demand for gas misers right now, I even got a discount on it, not that I'm complaining.Overall I would recommend it for someone who wants an environmentally kinder SUV
Pros
Green cred, roomy, average mileage display, stereo.
Cons
Dated styling, firm ride, disappointing mpg, brake release

Mitsubishi Lancer EVO X FQ-330 Adds Twin Clutch SST Transmission .Simply incredible. All EVO X's are fantastic, and I'd take one over many, many an option. This revision is just insane. Price tag though? Never spend this kind of money on a car! Suppose some will have it! The FQ-330 now comes standard with Mistubishi's 6-speed Twin-Clutch Sports Shift Transmission (SST) system and has 329hp (242kW) and 322 lb ft (437Nm) of maximum torque at 3,500rpm. That is 29hp more than the FQ-300 SST but 25hp less than the £39 999 FQ-360. The Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC) system ensures power is planted firmly on the tarmac.

To achieve this boost in power the engineers used a breathing kit that includes an intercooler piping kit, a racing suction pipe, a high performance exhaust and downpipe as well as a remapping of the ECU. Thus acceleration has been improved and the driving experience is said to be notably enhanced. The quoted 0 - 62mph sprint time is 4.4 seconds and top velocity is 155mph (249km/h).

Standard equipment includes 18-inch alloy wheels, Brembo brakes, adaptive xenon headlights, Recaro front seats, Bluetooth connectivity, HDD satellite navigation system and a Rockford sound system with iPod/MP3 auxiliary port. Interested parties can choose from one of four exterior colour options.Oh my Word !!!! What a car !!! Is a bit over priced, and maintenance will cost an arm and a leg, but who cares !!!! Is the top speed limited? It should reach at least 185 MPH with that spec and weight. I'll sell my wife for one of these!! Doesn't look as mad as the GT-R though!!

The Evo X FQ-330 SST is priced at £35,999 which is £3,000 less than the FQ-300 SST

the Concept-RA displays athletic sport coupe proportions wrapped in dynamic flowing lines that provide a powerful and compelling showpiece for the car's advanced, high technology features. Broad, muscular wheel arches house 21-inch wheels and lend graphic expression to the high degree of road control and tenacious grip afforded by the next generation S-AWC system. Meanwhile, an exposed engine cover highlights the presence of the car's high output, efficient, clean diesel engine design. The Concept-RA's inverted-slant nose and trapezoidal grille fascia reinforce Mitsubishi Motors' new design identity, albeit suitably revised to reflect the concept's sporty coupe attributes.Concept-RA's deep red exterior hue graphically accentuates the coupe's fluid, muscular body lines, and offsets a matte black engine hood that helps impart the vehicle's strong mechanical flavor. The interior has been developed to show a fusion of tradition with leading-edge touches. The cockpit's wraparound control layout uses minimal visual instrumentation and optimizes the switch and control layout. This reduces the driver's physical and mental workload, allowing full concentration on driving. The interior also makes extensive use of fine-quality natural materials in a design that delivers the utmost control, confidence, and vehicle involvement to the driver. The Concept-RA's Mitsubishi 2009 2010

I Thinks The Estoque is an entirely new interpretation of the Sant' Agata design ethic: it is a concept that provides a clear indication of the future. This applies to the new, elegant self-confidence of the lines themselves, but even more to the concept of the vehicle. The Estoque is the first sedan in the history of Automobili Lamborghini, although "sedan" is more a reference to the number of doors than any other characteristics.. Even sports sedan is an inadequate classification: the Estoque establishes a new category of super sports sedans. With a powerful front mid-engine, permanent all-wheel drive and a sophisticated, precision-tuned chassis,; the Estoque boasts a unique technology package.

The 599XX is officially labeled a prototype, but industry rumors have pointed toward the new razor-sharp Ferrari track car seeing a very limited production run to "loyal Ferrari customers" or some such thing. While the engine and transmission are the same basic units found in the 599 GTB, Ferrari has raised the redline all the way up to 9000 rpm, with some new internals allowing a power increase to a cold 700 horses.

Carbon fiber is used extensively in the 599XX, even underhood, where carbon intakes and other bits save weight and add a little visual flair. In Ferrari speak, the name 'Scuderia' is synonomous with the most hardcore streetable track supercars the Prancing Horse has to offer the public. Unveiled at the Formula 1 Constructor's World Championship, the Ferrari Scuderia Spider 16M is the first convertible Ferrari to bear that name. The Scuderia Spider is billed as the fastest convertible to come from Ferrari, ever. While the new Ferrari California will be released soon in an attempt to make Ferrari supercars accessible to more drivers, the expensive track-ready Scuderia Spider is for Ferrari customers who crave pure, unbridled speed.Upgrades over the Ferrari F430 Spider on which the Scuderia Spider is based included 80 kg in weight savings due to the use of lightweight body trim materials and the stripping of anything unnecessary to peak performance, and a carbon-trimmed roll bar that broadcasts to all gawkers the Scuderia Spider is ready for the track.
