Some people are fond of saying that Boxters are for people who can't afford a 911.
And the reason I'm stuck driving a 5 year old Dodge with over 100k miles? Simple:
I couldn't afford the Veyron.the visual changes are so minimal, its a shame... i would have hoped for more than just a new rear deck. less practicality for more money? i guess it makes sense in the sportscar world. Porsche has released a flurry of photos featuring the upcoming 2010 Porsche Boxster Spyder. The new pictures serve as a follow up to the German automaker's first official word about the car earlier in the month. The name "Boxster" is derived from the words "boxer" (referring to the horizontally-opposed six-cylinder engine) and "roadster" (a two-seater convertible). So, you are correct, the "spyder" part of the name IS redundant. I am rather confused...
The Boxter Spyder comes with a 320 horsepower, 3.4-liter six-cylinder engine that launches the convertible from 0-100 km/h in about 4.8 seconds. Even with the roof down, the car manages to climb to 267 km/h, roughly 166 mph.
Keeping weight to just 1,275 kilograms helped Porsche achieve fuel economy of 9.3L/100km. When the car is released in February, it will cost €53,100, pre-tax.
For all you people wondering what the point is, where a normal Boxster is a convertible, this is not.
Yes, it is not a convertible. Because a convertible has an integrated roof, and the only roof this has is a piece of cloth which has to be manually installed.
Why is this awesome? Because only so many people have the balls to go without amenities like a roof, AC, and radio.

Its actually a decent value as well. It costs $3,000 more than the Boxster S, but that gets you 19" forged wheels, an LSD, 10 hp bump, and lighter doors. If you're a flower, you can have the sound system put back in for free.
