The 2009 FJ Cruiser is a 4-door, 5-passenger sport-utility, available in 3 trims, ranging from the 4X2 to the 4X4 AT.This is just about my all time favorite of them all. I average 19.8 mpg with 50/50 highway & city driving (keep in mind, I don't have the roof rack and I keep the tires inflated to near max, if you get the roof rack and run 30 psi in the tires, you'll get about 17mpg, I also use amsoil synthetic oil in the engine and gear lube in the axles & T-case, this made about a 1mpg addition).
It's fun to drive, plenty of power, rides great, built like a tank. I do all my own maintenance on it because I like it that much, I don't want any jiffy lube jockies working on it. I haven't done that in years. I like the way it looks, LOVE the visibility out the front and sides because of the windshield being near vertical.
Upon introduction, the 4X2 is equipped with a standard 4.0-liter, V6, 239-horsepower engine that achieves 17-mpg in the city and 21-mpg on the highway. The 4X4 AT is equipped with a standard 4.0-liter, V6, 239-horsepower engine that achieves 16-mpg in the city and 20-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed automatic
